... Any more ...
Inspired by Moondreamer’s post on ‘Endless Fresh Starts’, I thought I’d have a quick rewind and see how I’m doing on the resolutions I made at the beginning of January.
I will write ‘Accidentally On Purpose’ at least to the end of first draft.
Well, the word count is on 14,107. I still need to rearrange the first three chapters before I go much further, but not bad progress.
I will continue to write short stories, but I will be more focussed about where I send them.
Apart from a few existing stories which I have markets in mind for, I’m going to concentrate on My Weekly and The Weekly News, and a few carefully selected competitions.
I will try to get at least one more autobiographical/family history piece accepted for publication – hopefully 'John’s War'.
I’ve written it and sent it off, so that’s in the lap of the gods.
I will read more.
I’ve read the Kate Atkinson novel below. I’ve also got a couple more Robert Goddards that were Christmas presents from the Welshman, so I’ll start those next.
D and I will go to the theatre. Instead of just walking past, looking at the posters and saying, ‘That looks good, we should go and see that’, we actually will go.
We haven’t actually been yet, but I will book it – I will!
I will listen to the Welshman. If he tells me not to waste time on certain things, then I won’t. The Welshman is always right.
Yes, but I hate it when he’s right!
I will write to my own agenda and not anyone else’s.
A hard lesson, that I won’t be forgetting in a hurry.
I will attend a Della Galton writing course.
Booked on for 23 February and Lovely Leigh is coming too, so that makes it even better.
I will find a nice way to tell Smudge that he isn’t allowed to sit on the computer keyboard, or to walk across my desk kicking piles of paper on to the floor.
Not doing terribly well on this one I’m afraid.
- And it’s only the beginning of February! -

Gosh you're doing well!
Is the welshman always right????
x
Lane - I think it's more that I'm always wrong ...
We also have a habit of walking past our local threatre - the Opera House - and deciding that something looks good and never actually getting to see it. I think I've only been about four times in the past two years.
Your resolutions are excellent, I think I shall make a list and try and put all that I wish to do in some semblance of order. It might help me a bit.
I am afraid of saying out loud any intentions I may have. 'Cause judging by this past week that is just asking for trouble!
However, you are proving efficient and consistent and productive as ever. Well done honey and make sure you keep writing to your own agenda...trust yourself! (and the Welshman, of course)
Debs - having a list and making it public - yikes - does help!
Pacha - thank you Sweetie. I try to trust my own judgement but running it by someone else every now and then helps x
Sounds like you're doing really well:o)
I've shifted my resolutions to begin in March - does that count??? Thought not...
A public list of resolutions? You are brave, and amazing at how well you've done in such a short time. Ever onward!
You're doing really well with all your resolutions.
Kettering is getting a spanking new theatre at KLV, now the McKinlay has closed.
Karen - ooh, I don't know - March could be New Year in some cultures for all we know. Go for it!
Sue - yes, if I don't make them public there's absolutely no chance I'll do any of them!
Annie - yey for Kettering! that sounds great.
Helen, great post! And thank you for the link!
Off topic, I found a meme yesterday, and you're tagged! No pressure of course, and especially as you're so busy ...
Keep up the good work with the resolutions ... Good luck with the Smudge one!
:o)
Going great guns, Helen. Well done!
