Soundtrack to my novel ...

… not my novel as a film you understand, just my novel as a novel …

Main Titles – 'I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For' by U2

Rachel’s Theme – 'I Saved The World Today' by The Eurythmics

Love theme I – Julian and Annette – 'Love Of My Life' by Queen

Love theme II - Rachel and Julian in Paris – 'Something About The Way You Look Tonight' by Elton John

Mitch’s theme – 'The Boxer' by Simon and Garfunkel

Theme from TBTS – 'Say Hello Wave Goodbye' (the David Gray version)

End credits – 'Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me' by George Michael/Elton John

Bonus Track – 'Stuck In A Moment You can’t Get Out Of' by U2

Two U2 songs … who’d have thought it?

SmudgeWatch – he’s moved from ‘only eating sardine cat food’ to ‘only eating sardines (or mackerel if he must)’. I’m beginning to wonder if he has a bit of an agenda here …

Great planning... I wish I could truely believe in my novel to the point where I could think about my soundtrack.

Love it.

Best wishes and ((Hug)) my dear friend. Glad to share a cuppa with you.

Great soundtrack, Helen!

Aww, bless Smudge and his sardines
(or mackerel)! Maybe he knows the extra protein and calcium will do him good?
Sending him kisses and fishes

Hugs to Smudge as always. I was thinking of her today.

I love the way you have a soundtrack! What a great writers' meme that would be - on the surface it looks like the perfect procrastination activity, but actually it gets you thinking about your characters, their personalities and their motivations. Brilliant!

Sorry I meant him instead of her - cats are always female to me, not sure why.

Awh, if Smudge has an agenda, which it appears he has, he must be feeling a little better - sending him hugs from me.

Love the soundtrack! x

Oh, I'd run into trouble doing that for my teen novel, would have to steal TD's Ipod or my MC would be terribly confused :-)

I'd humour the invalid if I were you. If we can't be cossetted when we're poorly, when can we be? Anyway, he's obviously a smart boy if he's manipulating you so successfully!!

I wouldn't know where to start with mine, maybe that tells me something about it too.

Clever Smudge, why have sardine cat food, when you can have the sardines themselves. xx

Two U2 tracks? I would never have guessed:-) The soundtrack is a great way to think about your characters and now I'm curious about Mitch and 'The Boxer'.

Hugs to Smudge. Fish can only do him good. Agree with Pat - all that protein. x

Sounds like Smudge knows what's good for him.

Love your soundtrack idea. It's a great way to approach your novel in a fresh way, I'm going to give it a go when I start the rewrite.

Meanwhile the only definite song on my list is Need You Tonight by INXS which accompanies my MCs illicit love affair

If you look carefully at most of the titles of my works, you'll find that they are song titles. Now there's a fun game: guessing the artists involved...

Annie - I'm not sure how much I believe in it, but it spurs me on to find new ways of thinking about it

Pat - according to Jason, his coat is glossier than it's ever been! That'll be all the oily fish then x

Yvonne - I love procrastination that can be justified!

Annie - yes, I think you're right

Tam - I do feel I'm being manipulated a bit :)

Debs - I'm just glad he's eating really, so I shouldn't complain

Lane - Mitch is a bit of a street fighter - but with a soft centred heart

Jumbly - an illicit affair! Oh goody - can't wait to read that.

Captain - I'll look at your titles more closely in the future

Great soundtrack! That Smudge, how clever? I must ensure he and Werecat never meet and compare notes or we could have real problems!

The blurb sounds really interesting. I like the idea of a soundtrack, but I'm not quite sure how it works. Do the songs play along in your head as you write, or are they how you'd envisage the soundtrack of a film of your book?

You're welcome to come and visit my blog. Fellow writers always welcome. I can't offer you a sound track, I'm afraid, just some bloggy discussion about writing.

Hope Smudge is on the mend! Im impressed with all your planning. I wish I could train myself to be as thorough as that!(despair.)
btw, Twinkle has so many knots at the moment, do you think it would be cruel to shave her in this cold? she just feels so ratty and clumpy underneath...
