The News Headlines

… and a random cat picture

It’s all still really busy around here, so here’s just a quick news update for you.

On 31 May I will be taking part in Kate Lord Brown’s blog tour for her novel 'The Beauty Chorus', which I will also be reviewing for Bookersatz. You can see Kate’s blog and find out more here.

There’s a very interesting interview on Karen Clarke’s blog at the moment. It’s a guest post from author Alison Pick, whose novel 'Far To Go' looks fascinating.

As I mentioned in the guest post I did at The Literary Project, I am planning to run some workshops on writing short stories for women’s magazines later this year. As writing short stories as a whole is way too big a topic for one workshop, I’ll be focussing on writing for this specific market and aiming the workshops at people who have already been writing short stories for a while and either haven’t plucked up the courage to start submitting yet or have been submitting for a while and are keen to increase their chances of acceptance. The workshops will probably be in the Midlands/Central England depending on interest so if you would like to receive further information when it’s available, feel free to email me via the email address in my profile.

I have a story in the issue of Woman’s Weekly dated 31 May - the one with Barbara Windsor on the front. This is one of my favourite stories so it’s good to see it published. Also, another of my author interviews – with the very talented Kate Long – will be appearing in next month’s Writers’ Forum.

Finally, there’s a new review up on Bookersatz at the moment. It’s of 'Bite Club' by Rachel Caine. As always, new reviews of books you’ve enjoyed are very welcome so please get in touch if you’d like to contribute.

I hope everyone else is having a busy and productive time. Can you believe we’re heading for the halfway point of the year already?
