Review of 'One Apple Tasted'

I've just posted my review of 'One Apple Tasted' by Josa Young on Bookersatz. This is a great novel and I highly recommend it. Please also see my interview with Josa in the post below if you haven't already.

As always, I'm on the lookout for more reviews for Bookersatz. If you feel like contributing please get in touch. The more, the merrier!

As some of you know, I haven't been feeling very well recently and I discovered yesterday that I have gall stones. While this isn't particularly pleasant, it's much less frightening than some of the other possibilities and does at least explain some of the really nasty symptoms I've had recently. I'm treating it as a bit of a wake-up call healthwise and a start to a whole new healthy lifestyle. Wish me luck.

I recommend a diet of Marmite, Pinot Grigio and crime thrillers.

I think you may be right. It's possible I will get desperate enough to eat marmite given all the things I can't eat.

Ouch, as one who has suffered with so much pain this year, I deeply sympathise. Hope you go okay and that they pass through quickly...

I agree with Capt on the crime thrillers. And sorry I was going to do some reviews wasn't I? It's just that 'you lot' who do them make them sound so literary and I'm a commoner and well, it doesn't sound as magical when I do it. Mind you, haven't read many books lately (and the one I was going to do if you remember turned out not as good as I'd hoped so I don't want to review it :( )

What a wuss I am! Anyway, stay healthy! x

Gallstones, ouch... but manageable (at least, so I understand from several friends who have had them) - and the dietary restrictions can be harsh but the good news is that alcohol is fat-free!

I agree with Captain Black - but without the Marmite.

I gather gall stones are manageable, but ouch. And yes, given all the other things that go through your mind when you're unwell, it could be much, much worse. Good luck with the healthy lifestyle!

Just off to the read the review.

L-Plate - thanks honey. I'm fine now I know what it is.

Queenie - yes, it's very ouch if I eat the wrong things, but at least now I know what to avoid.

Shirley - we have family history of liver cancer, so I was very worried. So relieved it's not that x

A friend at work has just found out she has to have her gall bladder removed. My step-mother and aunt did so last year and both feel so much better for it.

Off to see your review.

Oh Helen, that's horrid. Poor you. But, as you said, much better to get a diagnosis so you know what you're dealing with.

Take care.

You are going to feel so much better once they've gone.

Is it a special diet or a hospital stay for you?
